About Girls Who Code

Girls Who Code was founded with a single mission: to close the gender gap in technology. Fewer than 1 in 5 computer science graduates are female, and the gap is getting larger; in 1995 37% of computer scientists were women and today it’s only 24%.

They have three key offerings for their students:

  1. Capabilities: Provide learning opportunities for students and alumni to deepen their computer science skills as well as their confidence
  2. Career: Create clear pathways for Girls Who Code alumni from middle and high school into the computing workforce
  3. Community: Build a supportive sisterhood of peers and role models to help their students be successful

Accomplished through both club, campus, and summer intensive programs, they have worked with over 90,000 girls. Technology jobs are among the fastest growing and Girls Who Code alumni are declaring CS majors at 15 times the national average.
